EXPERIMENT OVERVIEW

OVERVIEW

The ONBOARDING-AI project aims to transform the onboarding process of new employees in complex manufacturing environments by introducing an agile, digitalized training platform.

The solution integrates Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) and Conversational AI to simulate real-world tasks in plastic injection molding, cable harness assembly, and complex machinery operations.

THE EXPERIMENT WILL DELIVER:

  • A digital training platform combining interactive tutorials, gamified simulations, and visual learning modules.
  • An AI-driven feedback system capable of monitoring trainee performance, adapting training content in real time, and ensuring faster skill acquisition.
  • XR-based training support (in collaboration with ARGOxr) to enhance immersion and hands-on learning for complex tasks.
  • Evaluation and reporting tools that measure progress, identify skills gaps, and provide actionable insights to both trainees and management.

The project will be implemented at ELVEZ’s advanced manufacturing facilities in Slovenia, leveraging its 30+ years of expertise in plastics, metalization, and wire harness production. By combining cutting-edge digital technologies with real-world industrial infrastructure, ONBOARDING-AI will modernize traditional onboarding and significantly improve efficiency, quality, and employee satisfaction.

MOTIVATION FOR APPLYING

The motivation behind ONBOARDING-AI is threefold: technological advancement, economic competitiveness, and workforce empowerment.

  • Addressing a Critical Industry Challenge
Traditional onboarding in manufacturing is time-consuming, costly, and inconsistent, relying heavily on experienced staff for manual mentoring. This creates bottlenecks, slows down production, and increases the risk of errors. By digitalizing and automating onboarding, ELVEZ seeks to ensure faster integration of new employees, even in highly complex manufacturing environments.
  • Driving Digital Transformation
The project aligns with ELVEZ’s long-term strategy of embracing Industry 4.0 principles. By applying AI, HMI, and XR technologies, the company will strengthen its position as a digital frontrunner in the European manufacturing sector and serve as a model for other SMEs.
  • Strengthening Economic and Market Position
With improved onboarding processes, ELVEZ expects to reduce training time by 30%, increase productivity by 20%, and lower costs by 20%. This efficiency will support higher production volumes, quicker turnaround times, and greater competitiveness in demanding global markets such as automotive, consumer electronics, and industrial systems.
  • Creating Replicable Solutions
Beyond internal benefits, the experiment aims to generate replicable methodologies and training modules that can be transferred to other SMEs. This ensures not only the sustainability of the project outcomes but also a contribution to the broader European manufacturing ecosystem.
  • Leveraging WASABI Support
By applying to the WASABI Open Call, ELVEZ seeks technical guidance, access to cutting-edge digital assistant technologies, and collaboration opportunities within the WASABI ecosystem. This partnership will accelerate the development and adoption of ONBOARDING-AI, ensuring the project reaches higher technological maturity (TRL 7) within 12 months.
